Orrefors 'Kraka' vase by Sven Palmqvist £585+ pp
A Kraka vase designed by Sven Palmqvist for Orrefors in the 1940s. The design was suggested by the Nordic legend of a maiden who was told to dance for the king neither dressed or undressed and so draped herself in a fisherman's net to escape retribution. To produce the effect of netting, a coloured blank was covered with a fine mesh and sandblasted before being cased in clear glass to give this amazing result. Price is plus Postage/delivery. This beautiful, faceted decanter in a vibrant yellow was made by the Czechoslovakian company of Moser. It bears its original label as well as the acid-stamped mark to the base and the stopper and neck are both marked with the number 2, showing that the stopper is the correct one for the decanter. Punch and Judy by John Derbyshire of Salford c 1876 £395 + pp
The firm of John Derbyshire is best known for its lion paperweights/ornaments based on Landseer's Trafalgar Square lions but these Punch and Judy figures are less common. They are made of green uranium glass and well moulded, Punch with his little dog and Judy with her cat. Far less threatening than the puppets we used to watch! An unusual Fishgraal dish by Edward Hald for Orrefors

Designed in 1945, the Fishgraal has been one of the most popular of Orrefors' pieces. Most commonly seen are the thick-sided bowls, where the fish seem to be swimming among weeds. Most notable is the gradation of colour on the owl's breast. Whitefriars produced most of its paperweights in the 1970s, a late flowering before the factory closed in 1981.
